Training and Capacity Building

Overview

Port Jobs, with funds from the Northwest Area Foundation and other sources, invested in training technical assistance services designed to enable community organizations to increase their capacity to build employer partnerships, work with port-related industries and provide more effective services. Port Jobs operated the Training and Capacity Building program from 1993 to 1996.

In Detail

Port Jobs organized and sponsored workshops on specific topics of interest to its customers and offered a small scholarship fund to allow individual organizations to take advantage or training available through other vendors.

Training scholarships of up to $500 were provided for tuition, class fees and training materials to non-profit workforce development agencies for training that helped build capacity and increase the effectiveness of the organization's services. Capacity building workshops sponsored by Port Jobs werre developed in consultation with community customers to address specific interests or needs.
